Our History
Founded in 1894
Standard Lumber Company was founded in 1894 by F.H Jackson and Charles and Roscoe Horton. In the 1920s, business was booming, and the company acquired nearby lumberyards in Janesville, Lake Crystal, and Le Sueur. By 1930, Standard Lumber Company had grown to 39 lumberyards.
Family Owned Business
The lumber yard has been part of DeBlieck’s family history since 1970 when Duane DeBlieck started working as a manager at Standard Lumber Company. Duane and his wife, Brenda, purchased the business in 1988 after the company disbanded and changed the name to St. Peter Lumber Company. Their son, Chad DeBlieck, joined the family business and started working at the lumber yard as a teenager.
Expanding the Business
In 1994, the family developed a stand-alone rental center program through Do-it Best Corporation. Chad managed the rental operation after college graduation and became a part-owner of the business. They eventually moved the rental business into the St. Peter Lumber Company facility.
In 2012, Duane and Brenda sold their interest in the company to Chad. Looking to expand their design capabilities, Chad purchased Neubert Millwork Company the following year. With this acquisition, the company can create or replicate custom cut profiles for customers, including trim, mantels, railing, and newel posts.
Today, St. Peter Lumber Company provides customers with quality building materials, home improvement tools, rental equipment, and design drafting services.
